Although born in Durham, ten of my first thirteen years were spent in colonial Kenya. I survived nine years in boarding schools with the Rosminians in both Tanganyika and at Ratcliffe College, Leicester. A Civil Engineering degree at Liverpool University and a lot of fun followed and thereafter six years based in Warrington learning my trade on flood defence and water resources projects. I next moved to overseas development and for the following ten years worked in irrigated tropical agriculture (sugar & citrus). Six years residence in Swaziland was followed by a year�s postgraduate study in Southampton. Then based in Surrey I thereafter worked in consultancy on sugar projects in Ethiopia, Thailand & Jamaica. I then returned to flood defence for a further 22 years working with the Environment Agency, based in Reading. Having joined Wokingham Circle in 1998, I transfered to Knutsford Circle in 2017 after relocating to Cheshire (Brereton) to be closer to family. I have two grown up daughters and two grandchildren
